What on earth is there to do in the Back Bay this week?
**Here are a few fun events that are happening in the Back Bay area in the next couple of weeks…if we stray a little from the neighborhood, we apologize. We like to explore, and it’s hard to stay inside the lines!

Behold the Power of Ice Cream!!

That’s right…there’s power in Ice Cream. The power to get tons of people to eat it and eat it, despite the fact that they have an ice cream headache! So grab your spoons, or if you’re a spork kind of person, grab that..and don’t forget the napkins. Why? Oh…because the Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl is literally right around the corner. Yeah yeah, it’s downtown…but in our eyes…Back Bay schools everyone, so there for, owns every neighborhood. It’s a great cause and reason to eat ice cream: The event serves up ice cream from nine of the nation’s leading ice cream companies while raising money for the Jimmy Fund, which supports cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
When: June 9 – 11, 2009 / Noon – 8 p.m. every day
Where: City Hall Plaza, Boston
Price: $8 for adults (Ages 10 and up); $4 for kids (ages 3-9); Free for kids under 3
$15 Scooper Passes
Website: The Jimmy FUNd scooper bowl
***NOTE: This person had 20 cups…can you do better?

Chili Takedown
Do you remember the Simpson’s episode where Homer eats that killer Chili and goes insane, but finds out that Marge is really his soul mate…yeah…this is the reason to go to this, you might find your soul mate. (Disclaimer: probably not, but it’s worth a try right?) How hot can you go is the question to ask. These amateur cook-offs are big in NY (see this NYTimes article: http://www.nytimes.com…), and will be coming to Boston for the first time on Sunday June 28th! It’s $10 to come and sample all the chilis (and fill out your ballot), but free to enter your chili. There will be awards and lots of delicious food to sample, so come one, come all!
When: Sunday June 28th
Where: Great Scott 1222 Commonwealth Ave.
Price: FREE to enter your chili goodness $10 to sample other people’s chili goodness
Website: Great Scott
** I kind of feel like Doc Brown from Back to the Future saying “GREAT SCOTT!” and then slapping my forehead.
